Clear, glowing, dewy-looking skin, free of blackheads, pimples, and other imperfections seems to be an elusive goal. The skin care industry has been marketing false info regarding properly cleansing and balancing your skin’s own natural function. They say Sodium Laureth Sulfate (a foaming agent) is “good” for us, making us believe the more suds, or the squeekier our skin feels, the better. False.
Even an experienced Aesthetician like myself (who has suffered with acne for 25 years), could not fathom the idea of how “dirty” my skin would feel if I didn’t wash it at least 2-3 times at a time. Luckily for the last 5 years in business I have used mostly milk cleansers with the exception of one foamy cleanser with lite lactic acid for people who think they could never live without the foam.
Now after 5 years I want to make it a mission to educate people with all skin types how truly beneficial quality oil cleansers will change the way your skin looks, feels and most importantly, how it functions.
It is imperative you keep in mind that oil dissolves oil. Your skin naturally lubricates itself with oil. Most people cringe at the thought of applying oil the their face. I too was (until recently) oil-phobic. The thought of smearing oil all over my face filling my pores with sludge was an appalling to me.
Now I use a beautiful new (physician formulated) oil cleanser from the company I’ve worked with since I founded Innerglow Spa in 2003. Do not be afraid of applying oil to your face. Oil, alone, will not give you blemishes. Pimples, cysts, zits, blackheads…these are a result of several different factors including hormones, bacteria, dead skin cells and the buildup of these factors. Your skin naturally produces oil because it needs it. It is not a malicious force to be reckoned with; it is there for the benefit of your skin, allowing your largest organ to function properly. It is naturally occurring. Not only does your natural oil help lubricate, it also heals, protects, and moisturizes your skin so that it may function properly.
