Homemade Toothpaste…A Healthy Alternative!

I’m on a coconut oil kick and I’ve been learning about all it’s health benefits lately. (More on this in upcoming posts). This is the most incredible oil in my humble opinion. In my research of “oil pulling” I stumbled across Tammy’s Blog on how to make your own toothpaste. I feel good knowing that if we accidentally swallow this we won’t have to call poison control. Seriously, check out the warnings on conventional toothpaste. Scary! I’ve done research in the past on the dangers of fluoride and I don’t want it in MY mouth. The first place on earth it was used in water was Nazi concentration camps to lower IQ and make the prisoners submissive. Double scary!! Now it’s in 60% of American’s drinking water. Triple scary!!!
Back to the toothpaste and what we can control now. It’s easy, fun and affordable to make.
Feel free to do your own research…I’m just sharing.
Homemade toothpaste recipe:
2 tablespoons coconut oil
3 tablespoons baking soda
1/2 small packet of stevia powder or 1/2 tsp. of Xylitol
10 drops of peppermint oil
1. Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl, using a fork.
You may also use spearmint oil
Talk to your local health store and get suggestions on other oils to consider.
The coconut oil is an awesome base for the toothpaste.
It’s great to know this is a healthy and effective way to keep up our oral hygiene. It doesn’t foam, but personally I like that. The oil doesn’t feel greasy at all.
You can store this in any small container or go to a camping store and get refillable toothpaste tubes or cake decorating plastic bags with a tip. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Review: Infallible 6hr Lipgloss by Loreal Paris

Infallible 6 hr Never Fail Lipgloss $9.99 at Rite Aid. It’s a little pricey for a drug store brand but, I really like it and personally think it’s worth it. Seems to last for several hours, which is nice, because I never seem to keep lip glosses on more than 1 hr. A little sticky, but it doesn’t bother me…Seems to be more moisturizing than anything. I feel like my lips are plumper from hydration not stinging or tingling like other lip products, which I don’t like.
I chose the Coral Sands color, because it’s a real pretty neutral. I’m getting into the more smokey eye look lately and l just love sultry neutral lips. I think this would compliment a lot of different lipstick shades as a topcoat. Oola la! :
The applicator is unique and makes for a presise application. Remember if you don’t like it…Return it! Always keep your reciepts. It’s definately worth a try. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Review: Makeup Forever HD finishing powder.

Love it!!!
Makeup Forever HD High Definition Power is better than the other “veil” (but we won’t mention the name here:) It’s a super fine white finishing powder which makes your skin look virtually airbrushed…At least as close as you can get! Cost is $30 only at Sephora.
Even though it’s white, I’ve read that women of color like it too. I’m going to try it on my daughter soon…as she has a beautiful medium olive color.
Go to Sephora and have the girls apply it on over your foundation and wear it for the day. I liked it immediately, but decided not to buy it on impulse…lol…very rare for me!
I bought it a few days later and I think it’s a real winner! Directions for use: Apply your regular foundation, then brush the smallest amount of MUFE HD powder over entire face (finishing in a downward motion with a soft face brush) and finally apply your blush and/or bronzer over the top…Voila! Super soft and radiant all day without the oily shine. Oh, did I mention NO breakouts! Woo Hoo!

Ok, so I went a little crazy at Sophora and thought it would be fun to share some product reviews with you. Many women wonder “What the heck really works?” Well, here I am at your service. Most of my reviews will be geared toward women over 35, but all of the reviews will benefit ALL Ages!

Treating Acne Scars

A scar is the red, purple or even brown mark left by a previous infection (spot, blemish, pimple etc).
Treating acne scars on the outside…

The Oil Cleansing Method

Clear, glowing, dewy-looking skin, free of blackheads, pimples, and other imperfections seems to be an elusive goal. The skin care industry has been marketing false info regarding properly cleansing and balancing your skin’s own natural function. They say Sodium Laureth Sulfate (a foaming agent) is “good” for us, making us believe the more suds, or the squeekier our skin feels, the better. False.
Even an experienced Aesthetician like myself (who has suffered with acne for 27 years), could not fathom the idea of how “dirty” my skin would feel if I didn’t wash it at least 2-3 times at a time.
